American USN Wasp
The aircraft-carrier Wasp was built
in 1936 to use up the remaining 15,000 tons left after
the Washington Treaty. She operated briefly
in the Mediterranean in 1942 before returning to the
Pacific where she was later torpedoed and sunk by the
Japanese Submarine I-19.
